  1. What about using cold water during the Ghusl of the mayyit. Here in Johannesburg we have a shafi Moulana who has taught us that you must use cold water for the ghusl of the mayyit. Shukran

  2. As-salamu ‘alaykum. Would it be possible to mention to publisher and year of the references in your fatawa? It would be most appreciated. Jazakum Allahu khayran.

  3. wa alaykum salam,

The Maktab Islami print of Rawdah. And Bujayrami on Khatib is the Dar al-Kutub al-Ilmiyyah print. We have access to alternate copies of both, so in some instances may use those too.

It is also found in Nihayat al-Muhtaj v. 1, p. 71 (the common prints are Dar al-Fikr and Mustafa Babi, they are the same),

ويكره شديد الحرارة والبرودة لمنعهما الإسباغ

    Allah knows best.

  4. What about drinking? One of my friend told me that Prophet liked drinking mildly cold water. Is it true and is it recommended? JazaakaLlaahu khairaa

  5. Assalamu alaikum,

Are Dar al-Kutub al-Ilmiyyas Shafii fiqh books reliable?

  6. Jazak Allahu khayran shaykh Yaqub. Your fatwa on ‘Shart al-Bara’ah in Trade’ included a detailed bibliography. May I assume that these editions are the ones you regularly refer to? Wasalam.

  7. @ mohamed- the moulana should sit with the old school toekoemandis. they will tell him to treat the dead as if they were alive. if the water is too hot or too cold for you then its too hot or too cold for the dead. what you dislike for yourself you should dislike for the dead.

back to question. could we make tayammum if the water is too cold & we have no means to heat it up.
